Super Heavy-Duty 24" Log Basket / Fire Grate – Massively Over-Engineered for Near-Indestructible Performance
This is not another lightweight, under-engineered log grate that sags, warps or collapses after a few seasons. This 24" log basket has been deliberately designed and built to be super heavy-duty and virtually indestructible under real open-fire conditions.
Built to never fail
Unlike the vast majority of similar grates which rely on just two horizontal supporting bars, this grate features four full-length horizontal support bars.
The extra two bars create genuine structural redundancy. Even in the extremely unlikely event that one bar ever approached its softening point under intense heat, the remaining three bars continue to carry the full load. This is deliberate over-engineering that makes catastrophic failure almost impossible.
The entire structure is fabricated from 19 mm (¾") solid square Q235B mild steel bar and is continuously welded at 88 points. The result is a rigid, load-spreading frame that will not twist, spread or collapse.
Safe working load with the fire lit: up to 300 kg.
Why most other grates fail
Typical “heavy duty” grates use thinner bar (often only ½" / 12–13 mm) and just two cross supports. They also leave large gaps between the front-to-back bars. Unburnt coals and embers fall straight through, creating a mess and reducing efficiency. Our design uses closely spaced bars so fuel stays where it should, maximising burn and minimising mess.
Material – Q235B mild steel
Q235B is an excellent choice for this application:
- Minimum yield strength of 235 MPa with good tensile strength (typically 375–500 MPa)
- Outstanding weldability thanks to its low carbon content – essential for the 88 high-integrity welds used here
- Excellent ductility and toughness, so it absorbs thermal expansion and contraction without cracking
- Proven structural reliability in welded fabrications
Finished in durable black powder coating for a clean, long-lasting appearance.
At over 22 kg this is a properly substantial piece of kit – roughly four times the weight of many competing 24" grates. It is designed to outlast the fireplace itself.
In short: thick 19 mm square Q235B bar, four horizontal supports instead of the usual two, 88 welds, tight bar spacing, and a 300 kg safe working load. This is the grate you buy once.

"In Stock" - If ordered before 1pm this will arrive Next Day if selecting a tracked delivery service or in 2 / 3 days if Royal Mail Second Class delivery is selected at checkout.
All other items will be delivered within 3 to 5 working days as they are backordered items which take a few days to receive from the manufacturers. On the rare occasion that a backordered item is out of stock at our warehouse and the manufacturers you will be e-mailed with a revised delivery date.
Delivery times are quoted in business days meaning weekends and local holidays including bank holidays, Christmas etc do not count as business days.

DELIVERY COSTS
What we charge for delivery is what it costs us for the delivery of the orders to you. We operate a 1 delivery charge policy so you will only ever pay 1 delivery charge (The largest delivery charge will be used).

We will always endeavour to keep your orders on time, well packed and undamaged. You can expect from us:

REFUNDS & RETURNS
Custom or made to measure items are 100% non-refundable.
If the item is not what you wanted or doesn’t quite fit you can return it back to us for a full refund, the buyer must pay for and arrange for return delivery. All we ask is that you put your full name and address on a note in the box with a brief explanation to let us know why you are returning the item.
If we supply you with a damaged/faulty item, the item is not as described, or if it has been miss-sold we will pay for the return delivery and issue a full refund.

Goods that are returned back to us are the customer's responsibility. If goods are returned to us and are damaged it is your responsibility to claim the cost back from the courier. Please ensure goods are well packed when returning them back to us to prevent any complications.
If sending goods by post please ensure you use a postal service that requires a signature. Fuels are non-refundable due to the high costs for return delivery.
RETURNS
Products can be returned back to us within 30 working days providing they are unused and in their original condition. We may accept returns longer than this on a case by case basis, please contact us to request this.
To return an order ensure the products are well packed and include a note in the box with your name and postcode. To book a courier we would recommend a courier broker such as www.interparcel.com.
